How to use the Petlog Lost Pet Alert

The Petlog Lost Pet Alert features can be used with any pet registered
 on the Petlog database. To register for the alert you will need your pet’s microchip number and Petlog ID. These can be found on your welcome email, letter from Petlog or the receipt given to you at time of microchipping or rehoming.

Access the lost pet alert

If you are unable to find your microchip number or Petlog ID or are unsure if you are a Petlog member, please call Petlog on 01296336579.

Lines are open Monday – Friday 09.00 – 17.00 excluding Bank Holidays.


Your microchip number can be checked using the Petlog website. Once you have these two numbers you can login to the Petlog Lost Pet Alert

 

The fields that are marked with the asterisk are mandatory. After you have completed the form, tap ‘access the Lost Pet Alert

Once your details are verified by Petlog you will be able to use the Petlog Lost Pet Alert features. If for any reason you cannot complete the access process please 
call Petlog on 01296336579. They will be happy to assist you.

After accessing the Lost Pet Alert

There are two types of Petlog memberships, Basic and Premium.

If you are a Basic member, the next screens will have a green background and will list the FREE available.

 

If you are a Premium member, the next screens will have a burgundy background and will list the FREE services available.

 

How to select your pet or add a new one

If you have registered multiple pets with Petlog, you can use the Lost Pet Alert for each of them. To select a pet or to access the Lost Pet Alert with another pet, tap on the “swap” icon on the top right corner of the screen:

 

Once you have tapped on the “swap” icon, you can choose which pet profile you want to use. You can also access the Lost Pet Alert with a different pet by tapping on the square with the “+” sign in the middle:

 

The Lost Pet Alert for BASIC members

If your pet is registered as Basic member, you can use the Lost Pet Alert to:

  1. Send a lost notification
  2. Recall a lost notification
  3. Share the lost location
  4. Find local dog wardens
  5. Find local vets and rescues
  6. Upgrade to Petlog Premium

 

1. Send a lost notification

If your pet is lost, you can send a lost notificaton alert to Petlog. This alert will mark your pet as lost on the Petlog database.

Any vet or pet rescue who scans your pet’s microchip will see that your pet has a ‘lost status’ and will be asked to contact Petlog immediately.

To mark your pet as lost, tap on the yellow “send lost notification” button, then tap “yes” on the pop up:

 

Wehn you upgrade to Petlog Premium, the alert notification is shared with vets and rescues in a 30-mile radius. To upgrade click here.

 

2. Recall lost notification

If your pet is no longer lost, you can use this feature to send a notificaton to Petlog to mark your pet as found.

To recall the lost notification, tap on the blue “recall lost notificaton” button, then tap “yes” on the pop up:

 

3. Share lost location

To share the location where your pet was lost, click on the “share lost location” button, scroll the map to locate the exact point and tap “share”:

 

You will be sharing a text message with the following information:

  • Your pet’s name
  • The address where they were lost
  • The date when they were lost
  • Your contact name*
  • Your contact number*

*Your personal information will be shared when you use this feature. You can modify the text and the contact details before sharing.

You can share this information on your social media channels like Facebook and Twitter or by Email, Whatsapp, SMS or Facebook Messenger.

 

To share the text message on Facebook, tap on the Facebook icon and simply keep pressed to paste the text message on the Facebook sharing window.

 

 
 

4. Find local dog wardens

Use this feature to find the dog wardens in your local area / near to where you
 lost your pet. Tap on the name of the area / city / town to call the dog warden.

 

5. Find local vets and rescues

Use this feature to find the vets and rescues in your area / near to where you lost your pet.

Scroll on the map to find the vets or rescue near you and tap on the “flip” icon in the top right corner to go from the map view to the list view.

 

6. Upgrade to Petlog Premium

To give your pet the best chance of successful reunification should they go missing, make sure you upgrade their record to the Petlog Premium for a one-off fee of £ 17 for the lifetime of your pet whilst in your keepership.

The Lost Pet Alert for PREMIUM members

If you are registered as Premium Member on the Petlog database, you can use the Lost Pet Alert to:

  1. Send a 30-mile radius lost notification
  2. Recall a lost notification
  3. Share the lost location
  4. Find local dog wardens
  5. Find local vets and rescues
  6. View and update your details

 

1. Send a 30-mile radius lost notification

When your pet is lost, you can send a 30-mile radius lost notificaton alert to Petlog. This alert will mark your pet as lost on the Petlog database.

Any vet or pet rescue who scans within 30 mile radius of where you lost your pet will receive an alert that your pet is lost. If they scan your pet’s microchip they will see that your pet has a ‘lost status’ and will be asked to contact Petlog immediately.

To mark your pet as lost, tap on the yellow “send lost notification” button, then tap “yes” on the pop up:

 

2. Recall lost notification

If your pet is no longer lost, you can use this feature to send a notificaton to Petlog to mark your pet as found.

Scroll on the map to find the near vet or rescue around you or tap on the “flip” icon in the top right corner to go from the map view to the list view.

 

6. View and update your details

Use this feature to update your pet’s details. Enter your new information and tap “save”. Your records will be updated immediately

Please note in order to change your pet’s name must call Petlog on 01296336579.

 

 

Bauwow registration

We recommend you also register your pet(s) on the Bauwow app as this will give you access to the full range of “Lost & Found” and all of the Bauwow app features.

 

With the “Lost & Found” section of Bauwow you can:

  • Create a lost file for your pet in case they go missing
  • Send a S.O.S. message to the Bauwow community and to the members of your pack
  • Create a Lost Poster to share on all your social media channels or by email, sms etc.
  • Check which pet got lost
  • Check which pet was found
  • Access the “help & advice” page
